Downtown Laramie Restaurant, Speedgoat, Announces Closure.
Speedgoat’s owners, Rajeev and Jenny Patel, took to social media this afternoon to announce that the popular downtown Laramie restaurant, which opened on January 1st 2018, was closing at the end of the day on April 30th. In the announcement, Rajeev and Jenny spoke about creating an “original concept restaurant” in a “warm, festive space downtown for the community to enjoy”, which they achieved with the “dedicated efforts of our great staff and team”.
Before going on to thank their “loyal guests, friends, family” and the “wonderful community of Laramie” for ensuring their success, Rajeev and Jenny cited “the challenges we have faced largely due to increased costs and worker shortages have caused great imbalance in providing the consistency and energy we have long strived for in serving our community.
The announcement ended with the promise of a Speedgoat return in some form in the future.
County5.com spoke with Speedgoat manager, Cade Carleton, who gave us this statement: “I am sad to see Speedgoat close, but we created an awesome and fun place to work along the way. I’ve made many friends here and have had the amazing opportunity to manage some of the most hard-working people I’ve ever met! Raj and Jenny have been great to work with as well. They’ve shown an immense interest, time and time again, in both the well-being of the staff and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Our staff was always fun to be around and we built a team that managed to make work fun and made it so that I often looked forward to going into work.”
Briley Phipps, assistant manager at Speedgoat told us: “I wanted to express how much I genuinely enjoy working at Speedgoat, the crew, working for Raj and Jenny has been a delight. It was very apparent during my time at speedgoat that Raj and Jenny not only cared about the restaurant but they cared about the staff and ensuring a friendly and safe work environment. I have grown so much working here and I wouldn’t trade my experience for anything in the world. Thank you!!”
