Steve Gosar Selected To Fill ACSD#1 Board Of Trustees Vacancy
LARAMIE, Wyo. (November 17, 2021) – At the November 16 Board of Trustees Special Called Meeting, the ACSD#1 Board voted to approve the addition of Steve Gosar to the Board of Trustees, filling the vacancy left by Mark Bittner. Bittner resigned on Oct. 31, citing health issues.
“I serve on a number of boards and charities here in town, and I love working with a group,” Gosar responded when asked why he wanted to join the board during the interview. “Like I said earlier, education is my passion. I think it’s a vital part of our community. It’s important for all of us to step up and take a tour, as well.”
Gosar was one of four candidates that was interviewed during last night’s forum. The four were selected from 16 letters of interest the Board received during the period between Bittner’s resignation and the Board of Trustees Regular Meeting on Nov. 10.
“I would like to thank all of you who were interviewed tonight,” said Chairman Janice Marshall. “I am so impressed with the quality of candidates we had. It was a very difficult decision for us to make. I appreciate your interest and all that each one of you would bring to the board.”
Gosar will serve until November 30, 2022. Gosar may run for school board during the 2022 election cycle. State Statute 21-3-108 states: A vacancy occurring for any cause upon the board of trustees of any school district shall be filled within thirty (30) days by action of the remaining members of the board. A person chosen to fill a vacancy shall serve until the next election of school district trustees. An election shall then be held to fill the unexpired term.
