Ivinson Creates Support for Clinical Education in New Program
Launched this February, Ivinson Memorial Hospital’s new Classroom to Career program offers financial assistance to eligible students in the final year of their clinical program. The program aims to recruit critical-to-fill positions in the healthcare industry by asking students awarded education support to commit to employment with Ivinson upon graduation.
Applications are currently open to students studying nursing, medical laboratory sciences, radiology, sonography and respiratory therapy.
“We want to create an environment for people to do their best work and when we asked our employees what that looks like to them, they have asked us to put additional resources behind funding education,” said Chief Executive Officer Doug Faus. “Two years ago, we launched education reimbursement and now we are excited to create new opportunities to support clinical education and bring those individuals directly into the workforce after graduation.”
With funding made possible by the Ivinson Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Classroom to Career program supports the higher education of students seeking degrees and certifications in certain patient care areas and provides job security in future placement at Ivinson.
“The Classroom to Career program was developed to address the recruitment and staffing needs of Ivinson while supporting the career path of future healthcare professionals,” Vice President of Partner Services Sagan Wheeler explained. “Investing in our staff and their education is truly a bigger investment in our community. It allows us to recruit and retain bright and talented individuals that are then able to provide high quality and personalized care to our patients.”
Financial award levels and commitment terms vary dependent on education level. Current employees at Ivinson pursuing the outlined clinical programs are eligible to apply for the Classroom to Career program with continued commitment to remain at Ivinson.
Applications are currently open and can be found at ivinsonhospital.org/classroom. Applications for the Spring 2024 graduates will close on March 10, 2023.
