Fatal Crash East Of Laramie, Wyoming
Speed is being investigated as a possible cause for a fatal crash east of Laramie, Wyoming.
On February 11, 2022, a fatal crash occurred around milepost 326 on Interstate 80 east of Laramie, Wyoming. At 9:34 a.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were notified of a one-vehicle rollover.
A 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was headed west on Interstate 80. The driver lost control of the vehicle, entered the median, and overturned. The roadways were slick with snowfall at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as 49-year-old Selma, California resident Mario Lopez Pizana. Lopez Pizana was wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the crash scene. The two passengers have been identified as 26-year-old Patrick Pizana and 22-year-old Jonathan Vega, California residents. They both were wearing a seatbelt and not injured in the crash.
Speed is being investigated as a potential contributing factor.
This is the 6th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2022 compared to 14 in 2021, 5 in 2020, and 16 in 2019 to date.
