Could We See Toll Roads In Wyoming?

There’s been discussion in the past about I-80 in Wyoming becoming a toll road and now a bill is before the Wyoming Legislature that would create toll roads in our state.

Since I80 is a federal highway, it remains to be seen if the state could even make it a toll road.

Wyoming is one of 13 states who currently have no roads with tolls on them.

WYDOT is facing a funding shortfall of $400 million but because no roads are specifically mentioned, it’s not possible to estimate how much money the proposal would make.

The bill, SF0073 says “WYDOT would have the authority to create a highway tolling program”. Read details on the bill in its entirety at this link
