The City of Laramie is excited to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for a new project; North 4th Street Redevelopment Project. The project will consist of mixed-use housing and commercial development. With the recent relocation of the City of Laramie’s Public Works Facilities, the City is seeking to partner with a private development firm for the immediate redevelopment of the now vacant, city-owned site located along the eastern side of North 4th, between Canby Streets and Shield Street. For the first time, the City will collaborate with potential developers through the sale of the property or other mutually advantageous agreements for its redevelopment.

“The immediate goal is to redevelop the site to assist in meeting the community’s needs for both housing and commercial spaces. This location will serve well for all types of housing as well as commercial space – both of which have been a continued need in the community,” says City of Laramie Community and Economic Development Director, Derek T. Teini.

In recent years, the City of Laramie has strategically focused on residential and commercial recruitment. Thanks to the enhanced review processes and updated regulations that facilitate housing development passed by the City Council, Laramie is well prepared for redevelopment.

A private sector partnership for this project would help the City meet Laramie’s residential and commercial needs while bolstering the area with a new, vibrant, livable, and innovative development. The City acknowledges that the private sector is better equipped to undertake this large and complicated development project so it fulfills the City of Laramie’s goals and meets the needs of its residents.

“The development of this property will not only be an improvement and major investment for the City-owned property itself, but it will also act as a catalyst for improvement and redevelopment in the north 3rd and 4th Street corridors,” says Teini.
