In a commendable display of valor and dedication, the Laramie City Council came together on September 19, 2023, to pay tribute to the remarkable individuals from the Laramie Police Department and a diligent community member for their exceptional efforts in solving a complex homicide case that unfolded over the past year.

This poignant ceremony served as a testament to the unwavering commitment of Detective Sergeant Sally Dalles, Detectives Matthew Liebovitz, and Patrick Buenger, and Evidence Technician Jennifer Kelley. Together, these indefatigable officers played pivotal roles in cracking a case that began its ominous journey in June of the preceding year. Their relentless pursuit of justice ultimately led to the apprehension of two suspects, one of whom was tracked down in the distant realm of California.

The statistics behind their tireless work are staggering. Collectively, they filed an astounding 30 police reports, drafted 21 warrants, meticulously cataloged 321 pieces of evidence, and dispatched 606 items for the process of discovery. These numbers are more than mere statistics; they represent the heart and soul these officers poured into this arduous investigation.

MJ Sisneros, a loyal community member, stood shoulder to shoulder with these law enforcement professionals in the pursuit of truth and justice. His unwavering support during this intricate homicide investigation earned him a special commendation from the City Council. On that fateful day of June 27, 2022, Mr. Sisneros raised the alarm, reporting the absence of his friend and employee, Mathew Caggiano. His quick thinking and full cooperation proved invaluable in piecing together a timeline of events that ultimately led to the arrest and conviction of Mr. Caggiano’s murderers.

The City of Laramie owes a profound debt of gratitude to all these dedicated individuals. Their actions exemplify the true spirit and character of the Laramie Police Department. Together, they have not only solved a heinous crime but also provided solace to a community deeply affected by the events.
