Joel Senior, announces his candidacy for Sheriff of Albany County in 2022
Joel Senior announced his candidacy for Sheriff of Albany County, in front of a large crowd of supporters at the Albany County Fairgrounds on Saturday 15th January 2022.
Senior spoke about his experience in law enforcement at the announcement, which began with being hired by Laramie Police Department in 2001, where for 19 years he served first as a patrol officer, then school resource officer, child abuse investigations instructor, fire arms instructor, field training officer, and special response team member and later as team leader of that team.
During his time in investigations he was awarded with The VFW Post 14 District 6 Lawman of the year and Department of Criminal Investigations Internet Crimes against Children commendation for the protection of children. He successfully investigated and assisted in prosecution of a child sex abuse case resulting in a Wyoming Supreme Court decision on behalf of juvenile victims.
Senior stated during his announcement that “I know it has been a rough couple of years, if we do nothing it will only get worse. We have been affected by government overreach, which has ultimately restricted our abilities to conduct business, and our rights as citizens. Some of you may feel frustrated and alone. I assure you, you are not alone. We can achieve great things together.”
“I am not a politician. I have no personal agenda, and no intention of promising anything I cannot deliver. I am far less concerned with my own agenda, and more so focused on protecting your rights. Elected officials should be available to their constituents’, I intend on having open ears, rather than an open mouth. False leaders have intentions of dividing us to further exploit their authority.” Senior said.
Senior ended his announcement speech with, “If elected, I will be the guardian of the constitution for you, no matter your political party. I will not stand by as our individual rights & freedoms are trampled, either by criminals or an overreaching government.”
