About this internship opportunity:
The Albany County Fair Manager is looking to host 1-2 interns for the 2022 summer. You would assist with covering events via social media, print ads, radio ads and helping to promote and organize events through the summer months. This is an unpaid internship.
The main events of the summer include:
June 12, 2022: Fair Boot Camp
June 24-26, 2022: The Gem City Jackpot for the Albany County Fairgrounds Foundation July 27 – August 6, 2022: Albany County Fair
Various Dates – Summer Market Days
Beginning and Ending Dates:
This internship would begin on June 1, 2022 and end on August 15, 2022 once portfolio and filing has been completed from tasks assigned. Hours will vary depending on the week and events. Full time will be needed for the two main events but can be flexible depending on dates needing off.
Assigned Duties
– Assist with promotion of events already scheduled
– Assist with organizing and running events through the summer
– Participate on committee organizing Family Night at the Fair
– Participate in and organize tables for vendors at the Summer Market Days
– Take pictures, post and file pictures to social media for Summer Market Days, Jackpot Show, County Fair and other events the fairgrounds produces
– Manage print, online, and radio advertising for all events listed above
– Take candid photos at events listed above
– Assist with posting and managing memos
– Assist fair management and staff with tasks as assigned
– Create and send professional promotional materials
– Schedule posts on social media to automatically post
– Create sign up RSVP forms to link into events
– Interact with public on social media
– Official Schedule of Events available during interview process
– Create a virtual folder of posts that can be used throughout the year to promote the fairgrounds
Potential Duties
– Creating ideas and plans for events during the summer
– Assisting with organizing events that are currently ideas
– Help with decoration, creation of materials and inviting guests
– Assisting with photographer market photos
– Other duties as assigned
Portfolio Requirements (Digital Portfolio)
– Create online folder to store all marketing materials – utilization of G Suite will be required – Create different brochures for events and buildings available at the fairgrounds
– File pictures taken for ease of access
– File all ads created
Requirements for Intern Qualifications
– Be proficient with Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and/or TikTok
– Be proficient with Word, Adobe, Canva or Adobe Spark
– Preferred background in agriculture and basic understanding of livestock shows/fairs. – College Freshman or above majoring or looking in to ag related field or Agricultural Communications – Have own transportation
– Have valid drivers license
– Ability to pass background check and drug screen due to close proximity to youth – Flexible availability unless otherwise stated
This is an active position that will require lots of movement. There may be times of sedentary work. You will be working with the public, taking phone calls, sending professional emails and other items. Albany County Fairgrounds is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
