Rolling Closures On 4th

From The City:

Starting Wed. Jan 21st, 4th Street will begin experiencing rolling closures for a few weeks.

In 2025, the City of Laramie – like every other municipality in the United States – was required by the EPA under the Lead and Copper Rule to inspect its water lines for lead contamination. The City of Laramie finished its inspection in late 2024, and found no lead present in its water service lines. (A service line is from the water main to the curb stop.)

In 2024, after the Lead and Copper Rule was implemented, the EPA released revisions to the rule. This requires inspection of connectors to the mainline on the City’s side of service. There are approximately 8500 connections to mainlines in Laramie, 44 of which are underneath 4th Street.

While Laramie Utility crews inspect these connections, there will be no service interruptions, and no private property will be dug up – inspections are only made to connections on City Property. Additionally, inspections on 4th Street will not be conducted during commuiting hours – prior to 8:30 AM or after 4:30 PM. The rolling closure of 4th Street will be marked with signage.

After the inspections are completed, 4th Street will receive a mill and overlay to even out and restore the integrity of the road surface. Please call 307-721-5280 with any questions regarding the Lead and Copper inspections, 307-721-5214 for any questions regarding the mill and overlay after the inspections, or comment below.
