Sharrows To Be Installed On Laramie Roadways
The City of Laramie will start installing shared lane markings, commonly known as Sharrows, on several city streets beginning December 3, 2025, following recommendations from the City of Laramie Traffic Safety Commission. The following streets have been designated as “High Priority” corridors for improving bicycle safety and awareness:
• 11th Street: Downey Street to Bradley Street
• Flint Street: 3rd Street to 15th Street
• Garfield Street: 1st Street to 30th Street
• Sheridan Street: 1st Street to 15th Street
• Shields Street: 4th Street to 18th Street
Approximately 229 Sharrows will be added.
Sharrows are pavement markings featuring a bicycle symbol with directional chevrons, placed directly in the travel lane. They serve to remind drivers that bicyclists may use the full lane and to guide cyclists to the safest position on the roadway. Sharrows improve safety for all road users, including cyclists, motorists, and pedestrians.
Residents should anticipate minor, temporary disruptions during the installation process. The City encourages drivers to stay alert, follow posted signage, and exercise caution in work zones. Updates on the project’s progress will be provided as needed.
