Visit Laramie Seeks Artist to Paint Mural at it’s 3rd Street office.

Visit Laramie (AKA the Albany County Tourism Board) recently relocated their public Visitor Center to 800 S. 3rd Street, in a building owned by the Laramie Chamber Business Alliance. Visit Laramie is seeking an artist to paint a mural on the building to celebrate tourism in Albany County and to be a place for visitors to take a selfie after getting information inside.

The building has a blank north-facing wall which is 40’9” by 8’7”. An east-facing wall section of an additional 13’11” by 8’4” would allow the mural to wrap around to face 3rd Street. In total, the mural would be about 464 sq. feet.

The call is open to all artists ages 18 and over, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental cognition. Artists must reside in the city of Laramie or within Albany County limits.

$5,000 inclusive of artist fee, fabrication, and installation expenses. Site prep will be completed by Visit Laramie and Laramie Public Art Coalition.

The selection process will be administered by Laramie Public Art Coalition. A Selection Committee including a member of Visit Laramie, a member of the Laramie Chamber Business Alliance, and a Laramie creative professional will select the artist to complete the project based on artistic merit.

Up to three artists will be selected to create a design proposal. Each finalist will be paid $250 and present their proposals to the committee. One artist will be selected to complete their design. The selected artist’s design will be approved by Visit Laramie. If adjustments to the design are requested from the selected artist, the artist will be compensated $100 for each draft revision.
