Albany County Housing Coalition Seeking Feedback on Housing Needs

A group of committed citizens are gathering as problem solvers to address Laramie’s housing shortage. The Albany County Housing Coalition, consisting of volunteers from business, educational institutions, and the non profit service sector meet monthly to address the complex housing challenges our community is facing. Members of the coalition have designed a survey to understand the problem from the consumers’ perspective.

Renters, homeowners, those considering upgrading or downsizing, new and long time residents are encouraged to provide feedback.

“The lack of housing is stifling our economy and making it difficult for families to establish roots. If we want businesses to grow and young people to stay, we must collaboratively address the housing shortage,” shared coalition member Trey Sherwood.

Brad Enzi, Director of the Laramie Chamber Business Alliance believes, “Continuing to grow the economy in Albany County requires us to continue to invest in our greatest asset, the people. If we don’t meet the housing needs on an ongoing basis, we fail to invest in the people.”

The survey is open through July 11th and results will be compiled and shared out at the coalition’s August 11th meeting at noon at Laramie’s LCCC campus. Responses are anonymous and the results will be shared in a form that contains no personal identification.

The survey takes less than ten minutes to complete. As a thank you to participants, the coalition will giveaway three prizes: a $50 gift certificate to Mizu Sushi, a $25 gift card to Qdoba Mexican Grill, and $15 in Downtown Farmers Market tokens from the names that complete the survey before July 11th.
Those wishing to join the Albany County Housing Coalition can attend the July 14th meeting from noon to 1 pm at 1125 Boulder Drive, Room 108, or email Kaley Holyfield kaley.holyfield@wyo.gov to be added to the email distribution list.
