Attention Artists And Makers: Freedom Has A Birthday Wants You!
Calling all makers and artists! Freedom Has a Birthday is adding an Arts & Crafts Village to their lineup this year. In addition to the booths from City departments, community service clubs, and other local organizations, attendees will enjoy the new Arts & Crafts Village this summer. These booths will specifically showcase handmade items like paintings, crochet, jewelry, and more. The Arts & Crafts Village aims to engage local makers ready to showcase and sell their unique, handmade items.
2025 will be the 33rd anniversary of Freedom Has a Birthday, ‘An Old-Fashioned 4th of July Celebration for the Family’. Presented by Rocky Mountain Power, the event takes place in Washington Park from 10 am to 4 pm on the Fourth of July, featuring events and activities for all ages, including live music, games, food, and vendor booths.
“For these large, community special events, we’ve been striving to bring something new each year. This includes new entertainment, attractions, or something like the Arts & Crafts Village, which seemed like a natural fit for Freedom Has a Birthday. We wanted to give an opportunity for our local handmade artisans to sell their goods at a favorite Laramie summer event,” says Laramie Parks Director, Mike Bork.
Previous vendor booths at Freedom Has a Birthday allowed visitors to learn about community services and engage with local organizations. With an estimated 10,000-12,000 people who attend Freedom Has a Birthday each year, these booths see great traffic. The Arts & Crafts Village allows Laramie’s local makers to also enjoy the benefit of the large crowd that Freedom Has a Birthday draws.
“We have 20 booths available in the Arts & Crafts Village, which is about 80% full. The reason we chose 20 booths is because we realize that it is the 4th of July holiday and people may not want to work a booth for six hours during the summer’s biggest holiday,” says Bork.
This Arts & Crafts Village is just one of many new additions to come to Freedom Has a Birthday. Bork mentions that other new entertainment and special events are in the works for future Freedom Has a Birthday events including old-fashioned family games like three-legged races, pie eating contests, and other games that correlate with the event’s theme: ‘An Old-Fashioned 4th of July Celebration for the Family.’
Registration for the Arts & Crafts vendor booths closes June 26th. The Freedom Has a Birthday committee will assign booth locations based on the type of activity or product provided for the public.
