Laramie Police Department 2025 Community Academy
The Laramie Police Department is now accepting applications for the 2025 Community Academy, a six-week program designed to foster stronger community relationships and provide residents with an in-depth understanding of modern law enforcement practices.
Beginning April 2, 2025, and running through May 7, 2025, the Community Academy will be held every Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Laramie Police Department. Law enforcement professionals will lead participants in hands-on experiences, interactive discussions, and real-world training.
Community Academy offers participants an exclusive look at police operations, from patrol procedures and traffic stops to crisis intervention, use-of-force decision-making, and firearms safety. Attendees will also interact with specialized units, including the Bomb Squad, Special Response Team, and Crisis Negotiation Team while learning about critical topics such as internal affairs, evidence processing, and dispatch operations.
“Community Academy is a great opportunity for residents to get an inside look at the Laramie Police Department and the people who serve their community,” said Sgt. Craig Lenhardt. “It’s more than just learning about police work it’s about building relationships and gaining a deeper understanding of how our officers work to keep Laramie safe every day.”
The academy is open to Albany County residents who meet the following requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions within the last three years
- Willingness to engage in discussions and hands-on training
