Limited Tie City Trailhead Access

The 2025 Wyoming High School Cross Nordic Ski Championships will occur on the Tie City/Happy Jack trail system, February 28 and March 1. The races are permitted by the Medicine Bow National Forest.

Hundreds of participants and spectators will be accessing the race trails via the Tie City Trailhead. Visitors to the area should be aware of the races taking place, the additional influx of use, and are urged to consider using the nearby Happy Jack Trailhead for alternate access to the trails.

Parking is limited at the Tie City Trailhead. Those attending the races are urged to park at the I-80 Rest Area and then utilize the shuttle bus which will bring them to the race trailhead.

Those who choose to recreate with their dogs are reminded that dogs must be on a leash within the Tie City developed recreation site and that loose dogs on the trail system during races can lead to conflict.

Additional event information including course maps is available on the Wyoming High School Activities Association website.

Volunteers are needed on race days for roles such as helping with parking and trail crossings. Anyone interested may contact Laramie Head Coach Becca Watson, rsophie98@gmail.com.
