Wild Horse And Burro Adoption Event At Deerwood Ranch

Fall is in the air, and Deerwood Ranch is gearing up for another unforgettable event! Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 28, 2024, as the ranch opens its gates for a day of fun, education, and meaningful connections with Wyoming’s wild horses and burros. This event, running from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., is free and open to the public, with no reservations required.

Deerwood Ranch, a private sanctuary for over 350 Wyoming BLM wild horses, invites guests to enjoy the beauty of the Centennial Valley while learning more about these magnificent animals. Located just 30 miles west of Laramie, WY, Deerwood provides the perfect setting for a family-friendly day in nature.

Adoptions
BLM representatives will be on site to answer questions and approve adoption applications. The event will feature non-gentled BLM yearlings and two-year-olds (both male and female) available for adoption, along with burros. Adoption incentives through the BLM will be available, making it the perfect time to consider bringing home a new companion.

Lunch and Fundraising
From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Dave Herring will be serving up delicious smoked meat sandwiches and sides. All proceeds benefit the Shawn Herring Memorial Foundation. Please bring cash to support this great cause.

Local Vendors and Gift Items
The day will have a farmers market and artistic fair vibe with local vendors offering a range of goods including t-shirts, sweatshirts, jewelry, home décor, fresh produce, salsa, bread, pesto, and more. Stunning photography of the wild horses will also be available for purchase, alongside other unique items like hides and photo note cards.

Special Guests and Activities
Donelle Slater from RezDawg Rescue will be on-site with “Kiwi,” an adorable pup looking for a forever home. And for those looking to explore, tractor and pick-up rides will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to view the 350+ wild horses living at Deerwood Ranch. Tours depart every half hour, with the final tour leaving at 2:00 p.m.
