Update On Laramie Road Construction
Summer is a busy time of year in Laradise, but you don’t need to worry about road closures or construction getting in your way. The City of Laramie’s interactive map helps residents stay informed on any City construction projects. Additionally, the City’s Engineering Division has created a separate map that displays both ongoing and upcoming street closures, obstructions, and detours.
“We know that construction and road closures can be frustrating but our number one priority is safety. Make sure you are careful around work zones, watch out for workers and equipment, and check the maps for closures and detours.” Public Works Director, Brooks Webb reminds us.
Here are a few notable construction projects residents should be aware of:
A citywide chip sealing project will launch later this summer. Chip seals provide essential maintenance and extend the life of roadways at critical points preventing further damage leading to more extensive and expensive maintenance options. With 57 blocks of roads getting a facelift there will be some street closures but should not be anything too extensive.
The University of Wyoming reconstruction project on 15th between Lewis St. to Ivinson Ave. is part of the UW housing project. It is expected to continue through the rest of summer but is expected to be wrapped up this fall.
Phase 2 of the C-line project is underway, a multi-phase project to replace an existing sewer trunk main that collects wastewater from around the University. As part of the project, Harney Street will be closed at 6th street. The closure is expected to begin on Wednesday 7/17 and extend to Wednesday 7/31. The work will also include the removal and replacement of the roadways surfacing with the sanitary sewer replacement.
