Albany Co. Sheriff’s Office Provides Update On Tues. May 7th Incident On Happy Jack
From The Albany Co. Sheriff’s Office:
At approximately 1:16pm, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a possible homicide subject out of Weld County, Colorado had eluded Laramie County Law Enforcement and made their way into Albany County. Law Enforcement was alerted that the subject was armed and dangerous.
The Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Laramie Police Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Laramie Fire/EMS, and the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office were deployed to the Happy Jack Area around FS Road 701. The initial report stated that the subject was possibly hiding in a rock formation off of Happy Jack Road.
Upon further inspection, the subject was located and spotted via drone. The subject was declared deceased at the scene after taking their own life.
There is still a heavy law enforcement presence in the area (as of 6pm Tues.) but residents are able to return to their homes and there is no longer a threat to the community. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we were handling this high stress situation. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the well wishes and support regarding our safety during this event.
We will update our press release with more information once we are able to collaborate with all of our community partners.
