Laramie Area Growth Plan Wins Wyoming Planning Association’s Plan Of The Year Award

The Laramie Area Growth Plan has been recognized by Wyoming’s planning community. The Wyoming Planning Association (WYOPASS) has named the Laramie Area Growth Plan as the ‘Plan of the Year’ for its efforts in guiding the sustainable growth and development of the Laramie area.

The Laramie Area Growth Plan, a collaborative effort by community members, city planners, the City of Laramie Planning Commission, and Albany County was recognized for its approach to addressing the region’s growth and development challenges. The plan, written and developed by consultant Logan Simpson outlines a strategic framework that not only manages growth but also enhances the quality of life for residents, supports the local economy, and preserves what makes Laramie, Laramie.

The award was officially presented at the Wyoming Planning Association’s Fall Conference and the November 7th Laramie City Council meeting. Community and Economic Development Director, Derek Teini, presented the ‘Plan of the Year’ plaque to the Council, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to responsible urban planning.

“Recognition of an award such as this shows the collaborative effort between the City and County, and we hope this can continue forward on future growth planning efforts,” said Teini.

In addition to the award for the Laramie Area Growth Plan, the Wyoming Planning Association has also recognized one of Laramie’s own: Sharon Buccino. A member of the Laramie Planning Commission, Sharon was named ‘Planning Commissioner of the Year’ for the state of Wyoming.

Sharon Buccino’s dedication, expertise, and commitment to the community earned her this esteemed award. As a member of the Planning Commission, Sharon has played a pivotal role in shaping Laramie’s urban planning strategies.

During the meeting, Sharon was presented with the ‘Planning Commissioner of the Year’ plaque, recognizing her remarkable contributions to our community.

“The challenges facing the Planning Commission are only going to get tougher as we work to provide adequate housing and protect the city’s drinking water,” remarked Buccino. “Having great colleagues on the Commission as well as dedicated city staff and a supportive state association in WYOPASS makes serving the community as a planning commissioner both fulfilling and enjoyable.”

The Laramie City Council recognizes both the Laramie Area Growth Plan and Sharon Buccino for the well-deserved awards and the contributions both have made to the City of Laramie.
