The City of Laramie is proud to announce the installation of a cutting-edge Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station, furthering the city’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Situated downtown at the University and 1st Street Bison Lot, this new charging station is set to transform the way residents and visitors power their electric vehicles.

Join us in celebrating this exciting development on October 25 at 4:00 PM! The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at the site of the new charging station.

At the ceremony, speeches will be given by Kim Viner of the Albany County Historical Society, Trey Sherwood of the Laramie Main Street Alliance, and Mike Yin of OtterSpace.

“OtterSpace is a Wyoming business working for the benefit of Wyoming communities, and we are thrilled to be operating in close partnership with the City of Laramie to address important community EV charging needs,” says Mike Yin, President of OtterSpace and a Wyoming State representative.

“As the number of EV drivers on the road grows exponentially, OtterSpace is working to ensure that drivers are able to charge their vehicles in convenient locations that bring them into the heart of our thriving downtowns and close to signature tourism destinations,” explains Yin. The company has already installed 3 charging stations across the state in Dubois, Lander, and Pinedale.

The charging station in Laramie will be made up of 4 80A Level 2 chargers. These chargers are perfect for drivers to top up a battery while exploring Laramie’s scenic downtown or to fully recharge within a few hours, allowing time to sit down and enjoy a meal, shopping, and other downtown activities.

It’s appropriate too, that Laramie becomes one of the first cities in the state to integrate EV chargers from a Wyoming business. Laramie was the first city in the Rocky Mountains to get an electrical plant, so becoming one of the state’s first cities to once again welcome new technology seems fitting.

These chargers will not only benefit those who use them but also the environment. While electric vehicles are not the only answer to a more sustainable future, they will play a key role in securing it. Community members, businesses, and EV enthusiasts are encouraged to attend this event and be part of Laramie’s commitment to sustainable transportation and environmental stewardship.
