Bear Creek Fire Burning Near Sybille Canyon

The Bear Creek Fire is now approximately 2500 acres with unknown containment. There are approximately 60 personnel from multiple Albany & Platte County departments and a Bureau of Land Management crew on scene. Pre-Evacuation Notices remain in effect for HWY 34 from Morton Pass on the West to CR 12 on the East to include all of CR 12.

The pre-evacuation order has been extended west to Morton Pass and east to Mile Marker 24

A pre-evacuation notice has been issued within a five mile radius of mile marker 15 on Highway 34 including Albany County Road 12 in Sybille Canyon due to a wildfire.

Anyone in the area should make preparations to evacuate the area in the event that a Mandatory Evacuation Order is issued. It is not necessary to leave at this time, but begin preparing to leave with household members, essential belongings, pets, and livestock.
