City of Laramie Welcomes the United States Air Force Academy Band, Wild Blue Country.

The City of Laramie is proud to host the United States Air Force Academy Band (USAFABA) Wild Blue Country on July 21^st at Washington Park. Wild Blue Country is a flagship band of active-duty airmen musicians that travel throughout the United States and around the globe, using music to support the welfare of our troops, and innovatively tell the Air Force story. 

Mike Evangelista, TSgt, USAF has been with this iteration of Wild Blue Country since it started. He plays both the electric and upright bass with Wild Blue Country and Bass Drum for the USAFB ceremonial marching band. When asked what makes Wild Blue Country special Mike said, 

“The heartfelt respect that the members of this group have for one another is the driving force behind our success.  We listen, we interact, and we support each other on and offstage. Our primary duty is to support the Air Force Academy and to help spread its initiatives nationwide.  We are an outward-facing representative of the US Air Force and help build bridges in our communities through the universal language of music.  Our high-level musical performances entertain our communities and bring a taste of home to our troops on deployment.” 

Evangelista enjoys sharing the stage with some of the best musicians in the world and recalls one standout performance performing at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee for a Veterans Day performance last year.  

“It was awe-inspiring to be onstage in the most well-known, and respected venues in Country Music history,” said Mike.  

In addition to the Grand Ole Opry, Wild Blue Country has been featured on Good Morning America, Fox & Friends, and many other national television and radio broadcasts. The band doesn’t only play for nationally recognized audiences, they also bring music to high schools, nursing homes, and Veterans Homes, connecting with and inspiring Americans across the country.
