Laramie Fire Department Responds To 3 Structure Fires in 24 Hours

On May 18th, 2022, the City of Laramie Fire Department and the City of Laramie Police Department were dispatched to the report of a structure fire in the area of the 700 block of N Pine Street.  Upon arrival, at 22:06, City of Laramie Fire Department Engine 7 reported a working fire in a large shed.  There were multiple houses and outbuildings threatened by the fire.  Engine 7 committed to fire suppression.  By 22:20, Engine 7 reported that the fire was under control.  The fire was contained to the structure of origin and no other structures were damaged.  The City of Laramie Fire Department provided a full response with Unit 46, Engine 7, Engine 3, & Ladder 5, totaling 11 firefighters on scene.  There were no firefighter or civilian injuries as a result of the fire.  At this time, the cause of the fire is undetermined. 

On May 18th, 2022, the City of Laramie Fire Department, Albany County Sherriff’s Office, and Albany County Fire District #1 were dispatched to the report of a structure fire in the area of Fort Sanders Rd.  Upon arrival, at 8:08 AM, City of Laramie Fire Department Engine 7 reported a working fire in a barn where there were multiple houses and outbuildings threatened by the fire.  Engine 7 assumed command and committed to fire suppression.  By 8:20 AM, Engine 7 reported that the fire was under control.  The fire was contained to the structure of origin and no other structures were damaged.  There were no firefighter or civilian injuries as a result of the fire.  The cause of the fire was determined to be a heat lamp placed too close to combustible items in a trailer adjacent to the barn.  Laramie Fire Department would like to remind you to be mindful of the distance to combustible materials when utilizing heat lamps to warm livestock, pets, and chickens.

On May 19th, 2022, the City of Laramie Fire Department, Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Centennial Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Big Laramie Volunteer Fire Department, Albany County Fire District #1 Central, Vedauwoo Volunteer Fire Department, and Albany County Road & Bridge were dispatched to the report of a structure fire in the area of the 200 block of Cedar Ave in Centennial.  Upon arrival, Centennial Valley Volunteer Fire Department reported a working fire in a mobile home, motorhome, shed, and wood pile with two 750 gallons propane tanks that were impinged by the fire.  Upon arrival, City of Laramie Engine 7 reported a fully involved fire and was assigned to a defensive attack.  There were multiple houses and outbuildings threatened by the fire due to winds ranging from 40-70 MPH.   They experienced a strong wind-driven fire, and when there is that strong of a wind blowing the fire it was all they could do to contain it in the structure of origin. Once a fire gets ahold and starts up with that much wind, all the crews experience a difficult situation to save anything. Engine 7 and Albany County Volunteer Fire units committed to fire suppression with a total of 33 firefighters on scene between all responding agencies.  By 12:30, the fire was under control.  The fire was contained to the structures of origin and no other structures were damaged.  Crews are currently still on scene completing overhaul.  There were no firefighter or civilian injuries as a result of the fire.  At this time, the cause of the fire is undetermined.
